The Daily Prompt

Did you know today is Blog Action Day? Join bloggers from around the world and write a post about what inequality means to you. Have you ever encountered it in your daily life?

As I ponder about inequality, first and foremost thought that comes to my mind is inequality between rich and poor. Undoubtedly, it is omnipresent. All the time, I have to force down this reality down the throat. Though I feel helpless and miserable. But, alone, I cannot do anything.

On one hand, there is  plenty for the rich. They revel in luxury from stylish boutique, fine dining, branded possessions to gourmet food. The poor cannot even dream of it or I would rather add, they do not even know if these exist.

On the other hand, the poor are struggling to make both their ends meet. One day they thrive and maybe  strive the very next day. They do not have a moment to uncurl their overworked, overstressed and overburdened spine.

Alone I cannot do anything.  I am sure, together, we can build a better place for everyone to live. I hope Blog Action Day is a propitious day for this.

Gone are the days when people interacted with each other face to face. Due to the explosion of social media, things move  differently. These days  most of us like to be wired all the time. It is aptly called wired world. A wire here and  a wire there:  in  the ears, of  the charger and around the desktop. Everyone is peeping through the wire. It is quite sad.

A few days back, I was reading about how slowly, slowly,  bedtime storytelling has become a thing of the past. Honestly, I never slept without one. It is worrysome and heartbreaking. It is a world of e-books and audio books. But, I strongly believe that it  should make a comeback that too with a bang. It is not just a matter of storytelling, there is a  lot more to it. Whether it’s an audio book or a parent narrating a story,  story is  just the same. Surely not  the emotions, my friend. Having said that one question comes to my mind immediately, am I prepared and willing  to uncoil.

One-Way Street

Congrats! You’re the owner of a new time machine. The catch? It comes in two models, each traveling one way only: the past OR the future. Which do you choose, and why?

I will not think twice and will definitely prefer ‘The catch’ model traveling in the past to take a trip down memory lane.  Actually, in this fast paced, multitasking world, where is the time to sit back to reflect and recollect. Where is the time to  celebrate the glory of those good old days? Being an opportunist, I would happily own this time machine. I could not ask for more, yeah, It’s one way only.

This rewinding of  the clock  will reflect  my  journey of   life. I will recall: who inspired me during  trials and tribulations? Who infused love and confidence in me?  Further, it may manifest in my present as well, as they say, smart  people learn from their own mistakes.

I am apprehensive about  exploring the future as I do not  yearn for what it holds for me. May be it  will mess up my present too. I would rather believe in having a vision about the future.

Come and join my smooth and bumpy ride, if you wish to  know more about me. Just remember to catch ‘the catch’.

Would love to hear from you!!☺
